To connect a new generation of art collectors with a handcrafted series of unique works that merge refined craftsmanship, painting, and design.
The Zen Tile Project began during my earliest years as an artist in Asheville, North Carolina. At the time, I sold rudimentary versions of these pieces anywhere that would have me: bars, music venues, coffee shops, and local markets. The series became a bridge between my past life in construction and carpentry and my future in fine art and painting. Those early tiles marked the first sales of what has since grown into a flourishing artistic career.
Three years and two studios later, I felt called to revisit the project with a more developed eye for composition, material, and craftsmanship. With expanded carpentry techniques and a deeper understanding of painting, the series evolved into something far more intentional and refined.
The white oak used throughout the project was sourced locally from lumber I purchased the day I moved into my first studio! Originally intended for furniture, the wood revealed itself to be perfectly suited for creating dense, sculptural bases that complemented the direction of the new designs. Much like the very first Zen Tile, this series became an opportunity to showcase everything I had learned, carefully packaged into a functional and beautifully displayed work of art.
Each tile is accompanied by a laser-etched, hand-signed base that authenticates its place within the series. Every piece is housed in a custom transportation box featuring a laser-cut display window backed with acrylic, allowing the artwork to remain visible while protected during transport.
Every detail of this project has been considered with intention and care. From the materials to the presentation, the Zen Tile Project represents my continued pursuit of craftsmanship, creativity, and thoughtful design. I am incredibly proud of the final result, and I hope that sense of care and passion is felt through each piece.
