Sun-kissed and windswept, La Playa is an abstraction of my earliest sense of peace.
 
My mother’s side of the family is from the Hatteras Islands, and my childhood summers were spent running along the dunes, digging my hands into warm sand, and listening to the steady hush of the Atlantic. Those days shaped my idea of calm. Whenever I search for quiet in my mind, I return to that shoreline.
This piece captures the warm embrace of the horizon where sea and sand blend into one breath. Soft shifts of color echo the tranquility of the coast, while the flowing forms trace the rhythm of wind across the dunes. It is a portrait of a place that exists both in the world and within me.
 
La Playa is a reminder of refuge, memory, and color pallets that make us feel whole.
